As I was watching a recent NASCAR race, I noticed there were a lot of alcohol commercials. These commercials are usually being aired in a strong male demographic program.

At the end of each one, I noticed the same tagline: “Drink Responsibly.” I began to contemplate how many people were reading this at the same time I was. I suddenly had a crazy idea.

What if there was such a slogan as “THINK RESPONSIBLY”?

How many people just need to be reminded that what they think does matter. It is not always easy to be responsible. When we are in social situations, we can oftentimes be convinced to do things we think are incorrect or dangerous; however, we sometimes have little success in saying no.

Thinking responsibly is a choice, and it seems to me that it requires a certain level of FAITH; the ability to believe in an absolute God that created us absolutely! We must always try to be faithful in our lives; faithful to our wives, children, jobs, churches, and even our thoughts.

We are all in process, and we are all old enough to realize that intention is everything. There is a great saying that I heard years ago:

“People do not plan t o fail; they fail to plan.”

The simple truth is we can get lazy and just stubborn for the wrong things. If we are not intentional with our thoughts, we may not become the person that we want to be.

So, for the next week, let’s agree to THINK RESPONSIBLY and let the joys of the Lord guide our thoughts and steps…
